Where were both of you born and where do you live now?
MIKAI: I was born in Douglas, Georgia and grew up in Colorado, Mexico, and Maryland. Now I live in New York.
NOAH: Born/raised/presently residing in Fort Collins, CO.
The first Question is to Mikai, when did you first meet Noah?
MIKAI: I first met Noah at a house party his family threw, and our parents were already friends.
This one is for both of you. What instruments do you play?
MIKAI: I play guitar!
NOAH: I am playing keyboards and drums for Tierra Suelto, but we switch our instruments often.
Do both of you sing together?
MIKAI: We sometimes do sing together – most often we do!
NOAH: Yes, we didn’t have enough time to sing together on the EP but our singing together is well-represented on our covers project.
What inspired you to cover the song, Morning Sun?
MIKAI: I started listening to ODE TO QUETZALCOATL in my freshman year of high school and my friends and I would lay in bed, rain or shine, and play Morning Sun. It has heart.
NOAH: Mikai showed me the ODE record very early on in our friendship and I instantly loved it. We never played music together for the first two or so years of us knowing each other, but when we finally did this past winter, Morning Sun was one of the very first things we played. That first version is the one that’ll be released actually.
You are currently doing an album project. When will it be released?
MIKAI: Yes!
NOAH: We have a self-titled EP of originals that’ll be out October 30th, and an album-length project titled “No Hay Nunca Nuevo Bajo Del Sol” consisting of cover recordings that we did this past winter, with inclusions going back to the first night we ever played any music together. The covers album should be available for order on the same day.
How can we listen to your up-and-coming album?
NOAH: The EP of originals along with a selection of covers from the album project (including our version of Morning Sun) will be available everywhere on digital streaming platforms, while the album project in full will be exclusive to a CD packaged with the EP and some other fun stuff.
